Lahore High Court (LHC) Monday issuing stay order against the raise in power tariffs under fuel adjustment, directed National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) and the federal government to clarify the position.The petition was filed by 35 owners of industries against the additional power tariffs.The petitioners said the NEPRA hiked power tariffs by Rs. 1.03 on September 29 under fuel adjustment, adding the hike should have been notified in advance under the law.
The industrialist petitioners pleaded the court that the sudden hike in power tariffs is adversely impacting their businesses.
The petition requested the court to stay the hike until a ruling is delivered. On this, the court directed the concerned authorities against receiving the payments of the recent hike.
